On Thanksgiving I ran my first official 5k race in Roanoke. I posted my initial results that night, but now I have my official results. Hopefully the next time I run a 5k race my results will be much better.
- There were a total of 3,764 runners. I placed #2,444.
- There were a total of 1,877 male runners (all ages). I placed #1,399.
- There were a total of 172 males ages 20-24. I placed #142.
- Official time: 32:42.16.
- Pace: 10:32 per mile.
Completed my first 5k in 32:54 (unofficial). #DrumStickDash #fb twitter.com/chrisrouse/sta…

I have no idea if this is good, bad, or average for my first race. I think I would have done slightly better if I had stayed to the back where there were less people. This was also only the second time I’ve run that early in the day. Normally I run in the evenings after work on during the afternoon on weekends.
My goals for 2012 include running a couple more 5k races, as well as a 10k and possibly a half marathon. Those are big ambitions to me when I consider that a year ago I wasn’t even able to run an entire mile.
