I will never understand the purpose of spam (the food or digital kind). I get my fair share of spam comments here just like every other blogger does, but thankfully none of them ever make it through thanks to an incredible plugin called Akismet that ships with every copy of WordPress. Here are some of the funnier spam comments I deleted this week. (I might have to make this a weekly post…)

My blog is (almost) inspirational…

This design is wicked! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

Thanks for the tip on car insurance…

One thing I’d really like to say is the fact car insurance cancellation is a terrifying experience so if you’re doing the best things being a driver you simply will not get one. A lot of people do have the notice that they are officially dropped by their insurance company and many have to fight to get more insurance after a cancellation. Low cost auto insurance rates usually are hard to get from a cancellation. Having the main reasons concerning the auto insurance canceling can help people prevent losing one of the most essential privileges obtainable. Thanks for the ideas shared through your blog.

I can picture this happening. It would be hilarious…

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

I sucked at Stats and my name isn’t Sonia…

Hey, I am working on my masteres in engineering and was given the std deviation for a test score. I forgot how to calculate it thanks alot. A few people asked what this means. /-1 SD is another way of saying where “most” of the people fell in a given popluation if you can assume a standard “Bell” curve. For my example the avg was about an 81 with a SD of 12 this means that ~75% of the people had grades between 69 (81-12) and 93 (81 12). if you are within /-1 SD deviation of MEAN (avg) you are considered normal or average (on a true bell curve these would be C students but few teachers use true bell curves). I am not as good at giving simple answers as sonia but I hope this helped. BTW Sonia I wish you had been my stats prof.
